DAY 1, 2

The lodge is situated at a height of 1300m on the foothills of Mt. Kilimanjaro and it is just a few minutes away from Machame Gate, the entrance to the Kilimanjaro National Park.

The small bustling town of Moshi which is roughly 20km from the lodge, can be reached easily thanks to the good tarmac roads.

DAY 3

Of the seven main routes used to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, the Machame route is the most popular path. It is the route of choice for many people because it provides impressive views and a variety of habitats. About 50% of all climbers, and most seasoned climbers, choose the Machame route.

The Machame route is also known as the Whiskey route, given its reputation for being a tough climb, in contrast to the easier Marangu route, which is known as the Coca Cola route. Unlike the gradual incline and hut accomodations found on the Marangu Route, the climbers on Machame hike steeper trails, for longer distances, while sleeping in tents.

DAY 4

Shira Route starts at 3,600 meters and is therefore not ideal for trekkers who have little or no experience of high altitude trekking.

The Shira Route is practically identical to the Lemosho Route. In fact, Shira was the original route before Lemosho was created to improve the route start point. Whereas Lemosho Route starts at the Londorossi Gates, the Shira Route bypasses this and begins further north and higher up at the Shira Gate.

DAY 5

Most trekkers on Kilimanjaro, excluding those on the Maragu Route, Northern Circuit and Rongai Route, need to contend with the Barranco Wall. The climb is often called the Barranco Breakfast Wall as it is the first thing that you need to do on day four of your trek.

The Barranco Wall elevation is 257 meters – it seems higher but it is not!The trick is to go slowly and make sure of each footing you take. Be deliberate and use all four limbs to scramble up the wall.  It is best not to use your trekking poles for this part of your hike as they can often get in your way as you maneuver your way up the Barranco Wall.

DAY 6

Karanga is an outreach centre of the Community of Christ, where the uniqueness of the environment, the facilities, and the activities combine to promote quality experiences to enrich the lives of families and groups.

Karanga camp is located at 79 Te Henga Road, Swanson, 25 km from central Auckland off the Waitakere's Scenic Drive.

The camp is adjacent to Cascade Kauri Park with bush walks and river swimming. Also nearby is Bethells Beach (a surf beach) and the Wainamu Lake which has fresh water and sand dunes.

DAY 7

We are a small Tanzanian local company that offers a wide range of safaris including climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, cultural tourism, wildlife adventure safaris, bike tours and beach holidays. We provide highest quality service and products that are within your budget. We have strong experience and a great team of people that guarantee the highest quality of service and co-ordination.

DAY 8

Last day Camp at Mweka Camp. You will have  breakfast, it is a short 3hour and scenic hike back to the Mweka gate. It is strongly recommended not to pay your porters any tips until you and all your gear have reached the gate safely. View more tips on climbing Mt Kilimanjaro. At Mweka gate you sign your name and details in a register. This is also where successful climbers receive their summit certificates. Those climbers who reached Stella Point (5685m) are issued with green certificates and those who reached Uhuru Peak (5895m) receive gold certificates. From the Mweka Gate , The car is waiting for you here otherwise you will continue down into the Mweka village, normally a muddy 3 km (1 hour) hike. In the Mweka village you will be served a delicious hot lunch!!
